Secondary & Middle Schools
We are very pleased at the take up of higher bandwidth services by secondary schools. Nearly all have decided that 2 Mbps is simply insufficient for the scale of their Internet use and have requested 10 Mbps. Others are looking for the low latency (under 10 ms) provided by fibre to ensure the response is as fast as possible, even though 2 Mbps is enough for present requirements.
A number of schools have requested a 100 Mbps connection and will negotiate the bandwidth ‘cap’ as their requirements develop, starting at 20 Mbps.
KCN2 welcomes several new Kent secondary and independent schools who have used ADSL for a while but now require ‘Full DfES Broadband’. 97% of secondary and middle schools are now using KCN including 4 independent schools.
- Bandwidth options to secondary schools of 10 Mbps and higher as required.
- Completely new, optical fibre, Ethernet switched network for speed.
- All hub and core equipment in BT exchanges for security and 24x7 access.
- Unisys is an international IT company with plans to develop KCN even further.
