Capita Children’s Services Limited have now released an upgrade for FMS6 in the form of the FMS Version 6.124 release.
Who needs to run this upgrade?
All schools who are using FMS should complete this upgrade.
*****IMPORTANT INFORMATION*****
Schools that are running FMS Version 6.116 can complete this upgrade without further reference to EIS (unless Service Desk assistance is required).
This upgrade should NOT be applied before the SIMS 2009 Autumn Release Upgrade has been completed.
The FMS Version 6.124 upgrade MUST be applied on the computer that is the SIMS SQL Server.
EIS has produced Information Notice 09-E45 which will take you through how to update FMS by downloading and applying the FMS Version 6.124 upgrade files via the Internet using the SIMS On-Line Update Service (SOLUS) 2.
This information notice can be downloaded from the Information Notices Section on the EIS web site at www.eiskent.co.uk
EIS would urge all schools to do the FMS upgrade using the SIMS Online Upgrade Service (SOLUS) 2 as this is by far the most efficient way to do FMS upgrades. Schools who are not able to use SOLUS to do their upgrades i.e. those who are still using ISDN or less for their internet connectivity, should request an upgrade CD by sending an email to eis.support@kent.gov.uk.
Schools that wish to use the automated method of applying this FMS update (see EIS Information Notice 06-E27) are advised to complete the routines for ‘Making a Manual Backup of your SIMS MS SQL Database’, ‘Making a Manual Backup of your SIMS FMS6 Database’, ‘Making a Copy of your SIMS Setups Folder’ as described on pages 1 to 6 EIS Information Notice 09-E45 prior to scheduling the automated upgrade files download and database upgrade processes.
What is included in this upgrade?
This release of FMS Version 6.124 includes new and updated functionality in various areas of the application. Full details of this new and updated functionality can be found at the end of the information notice mentioned above.
