To reduce the number of annoying pop up messages the messenger service in your operating system needs to be disabled. This can be done as follows:
- Right click on MY COMPUTER and select MANAGE.
- Click on SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS.
- In the right hand view pane double click on SERVICES.
- Scroll down until the MESSENGER service is visible.
- Double click on the MESSENGER service and under the GENERAL tab click on the STOP button to deactivate the service. Wait until the service stops.
- In the STARTUP TYPE box click on the DOWN ARROW and select DISABLED.
- Finally click on APPLY and then on OK
- You can now close the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT screen.
